Question: All of the Vispring mattresses in your showroom feel comfortable to me. How do I choose the right one?
Answer: Do you sleep on your back, front, or side? Make sure you test from your sleep position. Many of our medium or mattresses will feel comfortable on your back since your weight is more evenly distributed. If you’re a side-sleeper, make sure you try both sides.
On your back: you should feel perfect support in the small of your back. Not too soft, not too firm. Ideally your mattress will feel like you’re floating on a cloud!
Can you feel space behind your back? Can you fit your hands behind your back? It’s too firm. Back support is of utmost importance. Improper back support can lead to back issues. You might wake up stiff and with lower back pain. Or you don’t sleep well; tossing and turning as your body tries to find the right support.
It may be great to relax in a hammock outdoors, but if your mattress feels like one, it’s too soft. You should feel evenly supported. No sagging. Not on your back or side.
Do you practice yoga? Here’s a good analogy for you. When you lie on your back, it should be nice and straight, and not feel like you need to draw your knees up to flatten your back. (Too firm).
On your side, your spine should be as straight as possible. Your shoulder should be higher than your hip. At your waist a gentle curve; not a deep V.
Spend a little time on your favorites. Relax! Listen to your body and the perfect mattress will whisper to you!
